A full-speed test on a stage equivalent to the competitive stages. Here, drivers have the opportunity to get a feel for the surface and the characteristics of the track. And teams can fine-tune their cars to perform optimally in the prevailing conditions. As a spectator, it's a bonus to see your favourites in full speed several times before the actual competition begins.
The Qualifying Stage involves the top seeded drivers (about 20 crews) competing on the Shakedown stage for the best time. In tarmac races, drivers start in the order in which they qualified. However, in gravel races, such as the BAUHAUS Royal Rally of Scandinavia, they start in reverse order. This means the fastest of the qualifiers starts last. This starting order then applies throughout the first day.
Schedule for QS and Shakedown Galtryggen on Thursday:
Free practice: 11:00-13:30
Qualifying Stage: 14:01
Shakedown: 15:15
A new stage that runs on a wide, well-maintained public road. The spectator areas are located shortly after the start in a sparse pine forest. The character of the stage is reminiscent of the roads used for the Ölme and Lungsund special stages. The term “Finnish road” comes to mind when describing this stage.
