Tom Kristensson has his sights set on FIA European Rally Championship glory with a new car and team behind his 2023 title tilt.
The Swede has signed for Tagai Racing Technology – the team which has previously prepared cars for stars including Mads Østberg – and will drive a Citroën C3 Rally2 for the Hungarian outfit. Fellow countryman Andreas Johansson will once again call the pace notes.
Kristensson, 31, used the ERC as a launchpad at the beginning of his career. After finishing runner-up in the 2018 Junior ERC, he graduated to the FIA Junior WRC, which he won in 2020. That success ultimately led to a factory supported WRC2 drive with M-Sport Ford in 2021.
He returned to the ERC for a part-programme last season, making his debut in the championship’s top category with a Hyundai i20. Success was immediate and he finished second overall at ORLEN Rally Poland whilst also clinching the title in the Polish national series.
