33 cars<\/span> are entered in the ERC categories as the event unfolds over Ascension Day weekend, based in Karlstad. After two consecutive victories by V\u00e4rmland\u2019s rally king Oliver Solberg<\/span>, the 2025 event is guaranteed to crown a new winner \u2013 as Oliver focuses fully on his WRC2 campaign this year and will not compete in Royal Rally.<\/p>\n

But there will still be a Solberg on the start line<\/span> in 2025.<\/p>\n

Henning Solberg returns to V\u00e4rmland<\/b><\/h3>\n

Henning Solberg<\/span>, one of Norway\u2019s most experienced rally drivers, will make his first international start in several years. After driving a Toyota in the Royal Rally Legends class in 2023, he now returns to challenge Europe\u2019s elite in a \u0160koda Fabia. Henning became a fan favourite during his WRC career, especially in Sweden, thanks to his spectacular driving style and iconic interviews.<\/p>\n

Swedish stars set their sights high<\/b><\/h3>\n

Isak Reiersen<\/span>, from Torsby, won the Junior ERC title in V\u00e4rmland in 2023. Now he returns to the top class with a recent fourth-place finish<\/span> in Rally Hungary. Together with co-driver Stefan Gustavsson<\/span>, he will compete in a \u0160koda Fabia Rally2<\/span> run by JC Raceteknik on Hankook tyres \u2013 aiming for his first overall podium at home.<\/p>\n

Mille Johansson<\/span>, from Katrineholm, currently shares the lead in the FIA Junior WRC<\/span> after two rounds. The reigning Junior ERC champion \u2013 and winner of Royal Rally 2024 \u2013 is stepping up to the main ERC class for the second time, joined by V\u00e4rmland co-driver Johan Gr\u00f6nvall<\/span> in a \u0160koda Fabia Rally2.<\/p>\n

21-year-old Hannah Jakobsson<\/span>, from Kolsva, will make her ERC debut in a Ford Fiesta R5, competing for the family-run Jakobsson Motorsport team.<\/p>\n

Norwegian elite challenge the crown<\/b><\/h3>\n

In addition to Henning Solberg, Norway is well represented by Mads \u00d8stberg<\/span>, Eyvind Brynildsen<\/span>, and Frank Tore Larsen<\/span>. \u00d8stberg, who recently finished second in Hungary<\/span>, still holds the jump record at Colin\u2019s Crest<\/span> \u2013 47 metres set in 2023.<\/p>\n

Championship leaders on the attack<\/b><\/h3>\n

Roope Korhonen<\/span>, who won on his ERC debut in Hungary, is among the top favourites in Sweden. Polish driver Miko Marczyk<\/span> leads the ERC standings after two rounds, with \u00d8stberg and Italy\u2019s Andrea Mabellini<\/span> close behind.<\/p>\n

More international names<\/b><\/h3>\n

Other big names include Jon Armstrong<\/span> (Ford), Simone Tempestini<\/span> (\u0160koda), St\u00e9phane Lefebvre<\/span> (Citro\u00ebn), and former Formula 1 driver Jos Verstappen<\/span> (\u0160koda), who competes in the newly established Master ERC<\/span> class.<\/p>\n

Swedish presence in ERC4<\/b><\/h3>\n

In the front-wheel-drive ERC4 category, Sweden is represented by Viktor Hansen<\/span>, who recently finished second in the Junior ERC round in Hungary. The current leader of the Junior ERC is Calle Carlberg<\/span>, but he will not be competing in Sweden as he focuses on the next Junior ERC round in Poland.<\/p>\n

Close title fight in ERC3<\/b><\/h3>\n

In the Rally3 category ERC3, just two points separate Polish driver Igor Wid\u0142ak and Frenchman Tristan Charpentier<\/span> heading into Karlstad. A total of 8 crews<\/span> are entered in the class.<\/p>\n

In total, 33 cars<\/span> will compete in the ERC categories. Together with 105 Swedish Championship entries<\/span>, nearly 140 crews<\/span> are expected at this year\u2019s BAUHAUS Royal Rally of Scandinavia<\/span>.<\/p>\n
